Shake 'Em On Down - Mare Edstrom is back with her second blues release on Spiritone Records! Much like her critically acclaimed "Inside the Blues" release of 2004, this work displays an eclectic yet fun twist on modern blues. Edstrom is known for selecting obscure gems from the lost archives of the past. It is not often that you can find songs by Willie McTell, Leroy Carr, Barbecue Bob Hicks, Bumble Bee Slim, and Memphis Minnie presented with such vigor. Edstrom truly makes these songs her own and presents them with a smokin' band featuring a Who's Who of midwestern blues veterans. These songs are laced with fine blues harmonica and topped off with some great electric and acoustic guitar. While the bulk of this album remains in the electric genre, Edstrom steps out into new territory with several vintage country blues offerings. The vocal stylings of Mare Edstrom have never sounded better, and fans will not be disappointed.

"Edstrom generates considerable power and emotion as a singer...this is an excellent album and a solid wedding of traditional blues and modern sensibility."
-Blues Revue Magazine, July 2006

"The combination of Edstrom's unique vocal approach to the blues and Fox's production work and guitar mastery make for an enticing listening experience...She doesn't bring the power of the growl as much as she pays sincere homage and adds a touch of honey, which is the refreshing approach that makes these recordings stand out...Edstrom has a knack for reinterpreting great works..."
-Rick's Cafe Magazine, July 2006

"...Mare Edstrom has thrown open the shutters and allowed a shaft of sunlight to hit a genre that can sometimes be bound by its own heritage. She has poured her heart and soul into SHAKE EM ON DOWN and in the process produced a quite magnificent album. "
-Maverick Magazine, UK, Dec. 2007

"...a voice overlaid with the dynamics and tonality of a university cabaret and a certain oblique Bohemian charm....her studied, severe cry adds unexpected elements to the unusual “Trouble Blues” of Scrapper Blackwell, to “You Don’t Know My Mind” by Barbecue Bob and even to the Beatles' "Oh Darlin'..."
