 Private Guitar Lessons
Kenn is considered a Master Technician and Historian in a variety of acoustic and electric guitar styles. Particular areas of interest include American Finger-style, Blues, Celtic, Ragtime, Gypsy Jazz, Bluegrass Flat-picking, and Bottleneck/Slide styles. Kenn has done extensive research and study in the use of unorthodox and obscure open tunings as they relate to both eastern and western musical styles. Kenn has recorded seven critically acclaimed albums of original instrumental music for the Wisconsin-based Spiritone Recording label, as well as five acclaimed CDs with his wife, blues singer Mare Edstrom. He has also produced CDs for many other musicians, including four singer-songwriter compilations featuring Wisconsin artists. In the summer of 2006, Kenn released a CD titled Pullin Strings with ten of his students. Kenn's teaching style utilizes a unique blend of fundamental music theory, ear-training methods, and technique. An awareness of historical content and origin of style is explored. A custom-designed program will be constructed for each student, on a purely individual basis, according to their interests and goals. Students are encouraged to choose their own music of interest from either recordings or written scores. Access to Kenn's vast library of musical scores, audio and video recordings, and visual aids may also be an integral part of the program. Guitarist and Composer Kenn
Fox has been teaching, performing, and recording in southern Wisconsin
for over 25 years. He received a Bachelor of Science degree with K-12
teaching certification from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in
1980. He has taught in a variety of both public and private schools,
conservatories, seminars, and work-shops, assisting students at all
levels.
